JAMMU, July 17: In a tragic incident, a woman died after the delivery at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Akhnoor, with her family blaming the hospital administration for not providing timely treatment to the deceased.
Suman Devi from Bazigar Basti, Akhnoor, was admitted with labour pains to the hospital the previous night.
Her family members claimed after performing a caesarean section, she delivered a baby but Suman was hastily referred by the doctors at the SDH Akhnoor to Jammu, where she died en-route.
According to Suman’s family, the doctor informed them before the operation that the baby had defecated in the womb.
They stated that the doctor’s failure to clean the womb led to Suman’s death.
Angry with the alleged negligence of the doctors, the protesters initially demonstrated at the hospital, but when no hospital official addressed their concerns, they moved to Nirdosh Chowk, where they protested by keeping the body of the woman on the road.
Later, Station House Officer (SHO) Akhnoor Tariq Ahmad intervened and managed to calm the protesters, ultimately bringing the situation under control.
