POONCH, Aug 24: A woman lost her life when a black bear attacked her in Balida Chikriban area of Tehsil Mandi in Poonch district today.
Locals said that the incident took place at Balida hamlet where the woman was moving towards nearby fields. Suddenly a bear attacked her and caused serious injuries. She cried for help by the wild beast done her to death on the spot and then escaped towards nearby jungle. The deceased was identified as Jameela Akhter, wife of Jamal Din, resident of Chikriban.
Pertinent to mention here that several people died and injured in bear attack this year for which higher authorities permitted to hunt down the bear in some identified areas of Loran. The people have urged administration to save the lives of people residing in this belt of Mandi tehsil.
