MENDHAR, Mar 18: A young woman died under mysterious circumstances in Mendhar area of district Poonch today.
The deceased has been identified as Salima Bi (36), resident of Nadole village in tehsil Mendhar. The woman had no issue and was divorcee. She was staying with her parents. The family members claimed that she was mentally retarded and was undergoing treatment of local `Faqir’ and also at Psychiatry Hospital, Jammu. The locals alleged that there were some torture marks on her face and matter was fishy.
SDPO, Mendhar Amit Bhasin said that a police team led by an SI was sent to the village after receiving information. The body after `Panchnama’ was handed over to the family. The family claimed that death was natural and she was mentally retarded and also undergoing treatment at Psychiatry hospital Jammu and a local `Faqir’.
SP Poonch, Shamsheer Hussain said that it was case of natural death and some people tried to exploit due to rivalry.
