Alto rolls down into Indus river

LEH, June 15: Three members of a family were killed when a car they were travelling rolled down into Indus river in Leh district on Thursday afternoon, a delayed report received at the district headquarters here today said.
Two bodies have been recovered so far while another was still untraced in the river.
Reports said 40 years old Tsering Angmo wife of Angchuk, a resident of Phyang, who was driving Alto Car No. 1693 JK10A, was posted as X-Ray Technician in Primary Health Centre (PHC) Skurbuchan in Leh and was on way to the residence of her parents in Khaltsi on Thursday when she lost control over the car while negotiating a curve.
The car rolled down into Indus river at 3.45 pm.
All three on board the car were believed dead on spot.
Rescue teams of local people, police and civil administration reached the spot and recovered Identify card, PAN card etc of Tsering Angmo from the spot. Her body hasn’t been recovered so far.
However, two other bodies have been fished out from the river, who happened to be son and father of Angmo.
They have been identified as Stanzin Norfail, 72, son of Stanzin Dorje R/o Urbis, father of Angmo and two years old Stanzin Tsungsmat son of Angchuk R/o Phyang. Tsungsmat was son of Angmo.
Reports said Tsering Angmo was on way from the residence of her in-laws at Phyang the house of her father at Khaltsi when the tragedy struck.
Administration has deployed divers to fish out the bodies of two missing persons but they remained untraced.
Body of Angmo has not been recovered so far despite searches while two other bodies were recovered and handed over to the family members.
Reports said Angmo was on the way to Skurbuchan when accident occurred. She was supposed to drop her father Stanzin Noorfail to his home Urbis which was also on the way to Skurbuchan.
She was married to Angchuk of Phyang village but was presently staying at Choglamsar.
She left behind her husband and daughter. Several teams from Health department, JK Police and SDRF are continuously searching for the missing. Raft and Kayak are also being engaged.
Police have registered a case in the accident under First Information Report No. 59 of 2019 under Sections 279 and 304 RPC at Leh police station. Further investigations were in the progress.
