RAMBAN, Dec 30: A woman here lost her life after receiving electric shock in Kumate area of Rajgarh last night.
Police sources said the woman identified as Shaina Begum, 32, wife of Ghulam Nabi, resident of Kathyour, Kumate, district Ramban died late last night due to electric shock at her residence.
They said that after post-mortem and other legal formalities at District Hospital Ramban, body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites today.
Police sources informed that death of the lady had occurred under suspicious circumstances and to ascertain the actual cause of death inquest proceedings under Section 194 BNS have been initiated.
Meanwhile, Firdous Ahmed, brother of the deceased has said that his sister had received an electric shock while she was connecting her mobile phone with charger.
He claimed that the area received high voltage due to some short circuit in the transmission line due which his sister died on the spot and the mobile phone was also damaged.
