Woman faints at crowded ration depot, dies

KATHUA, Mar 25:  In a shocking incident, a middle-aged woman, fainted at a heavily crowded ration depot in Ward No. 13 of  Kathua town and died in hospital.
Reports said  37-year-old Madhu Bala, wife of  Vijay Kumar of  Ward No 14, Kathua rushed to the Govt ration depot  in Ward No 13 after she came to know that ration consignment reached the outlet after long a gap today. There was already huge rush of the people at the depot and the people were in long queues even in the lane. Amidst heavy rush of consumers, the woman fainted and collapsed on the ground.
She was rushed to district hospital Kathua where she was declared dead by the doctors. The police party came to know about the incident and rushed there. The police has taken cognizance of the matter and started investigation. The people of the area lodged their protest alleging irregular supply of ration, leading to rush at the outlet. Later, Additional DC and SSP Kathua also reached there and pacified the agitated public.  The Administration has also taken serious note of the issue and asked CAPD to streamline its supply system.
