KATHUA, Nov 19: In a tragic road accident, a woman and her granddaughter died today at Sakta Chack on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway.
The accident took place this afternoon when family of one Makhan Lal including his wife, two daughters and mother were crossing the road at Sakta Chack on National Highway. Makhan Lal along with his wife and one daughter had crossed the road but when his mother along with his another daughter was crossing the road, a speedy motorcycle hit and seriously injured them.
Both grandmother and granddaughter were immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Kathua but after around one hour of treatment, both succumbed to their injuries. The deceased grandmother was identified as Santosh Kumari (50) wife of Laxman Dass and granddaughter as Samera (5) daughter of Makhan Lal. They were residents of Ghatti.
After getting conducted their postmortem at GMCH Kathua, the bodies of both the deceased were handed over to their family for last rites while Kathua Police had registered a case in this connection and started manhunt to nab the motorcyclist, who fled away after committing the crime.
