POONCH, June 24: An elderly woman was injured when she was attacked by a bear in Chamber Kanari area of tehsil Mandi in Poonch district today.
Official sources said that the woman, identified as Sarba Begum, wife of Late Abdullah Rathi, was walking in her fields at some distance from her house at the village. Suddenly, a bear hiding in the fields ambushed the woman and caused injuries to her. Listening her cries, the other family members with lathis rushed towards the spot and rescued her.
Later, with serious injuries she was moved to Mandi hospital. The doctors said that she has been provided treatment and was out of danger.
