UDHAMPUR, Apr 12: A woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into river Tawi from Jaganoo bridge here today.
As per police sources, a driver witnessed shoes and shawl of a woman lying on Jaganoo bridge and informed the police.
After getting information, police rushed to the spot and divers were pressed into service to fish out the body of the woman. After hectic efforts, body of the woman was fished out and shifted to hospital, where after conducting autopsy, it was handed over to family members for last rites.
The deceased has been identified as Rekha Devi, wife of Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Sonal Jaganoo.
A case in this regard has been registered at concerned police station and investigation started to ascertain the reason behind such extreme step.
