KISHTWAR, June 7: A woman was killed while four others received injuries after a Maruti car rolled down into gorge at Balana area of Chatroo today afternoon.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK17-0493 was on its way from village Balana Sigdi towards Kishtwar when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it rolled down into gorge at Balana area of Chatroo, resulting into on the spot death of a lady and injuries to four others.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and started rescue operation with the help of locals.
All the injured were shifted to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Chatroo from where they were later referred to District Hospital Kishtwar for specialised treatment.
After completing medical and legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to family members for last rites.
The deceased was identified as Safia Begum, wife of Ghulam Mohammad of Balana Sigdi, while the injured were identified as Irshad Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohammad, Muneera Begum, wife of Sadam Hussain, Razia Begum, wife of Manzoor Ahmed and Raqia Banoo, daughter of Sadam Hussain, all residents of Balana Sigdi.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Chatroo and investigation started.
