DODA, June 13: A woman was killed when a car she was travelling in plunged into a deep gorge near Assar.
“A Tiago vehicle bearing registration number JK02CC-8873 skidded near Assar and fell down about 150 feet from National Highway near Assar,” police sources said, adding, the vehicle was on its way from Jammu to Gandoh.
Sources said in the mishap, the driver of the vehicle namely Babita Manhas wife of Lt Krishan Manhas, a resident of village Kota Kharangal, tehsil Gandoh, district Doda (at present House number 323, 1/D Sai) died while a 11-year-old boy namely Reehan Manhas, who was accompanying her in the car got injured.
“The dead body of the deceased and the injured boy were shifted to Primary Health Centre Assar where after providing first-aid, the boy was referred to Government Medical College Doda for further treatment,” sources said, adding, a case FIR number 14/2021 u/s 279, 337 and 304 A IPC was registered in this connection at police station Assar and further investigation started.
