JAMMU, Nov 2: A woman pillion rider was killed this morning when the scooty she was going on along with another lady, was allegedly hit by an Army vehicle in Kalith area falling under the jurisdiction of police post Jourian.
According to a police spokesperson, the pillion rider identified as Darshna Devi (35) wife of Gopal Krishan, a resident of village Jad in Akhnoor Tehsil was travelling on a scooty (having registration No JK02BG-7349) rode by Sita Devi (30) wife of Doulat Ram of same village when an Army vehicle allegedly hit it (scooty).
In the mishap Darshna Devi was killed on the spot while Sita Devi escapes unhurt. The body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites after conducting post mortem at Government Hospital, Akhnoor.
In this connection, a case against the driver of the Army vehicle, who has been identified as Aiki Moulam (Service No 15319085 F) of 14 Engineers Regiment, has been registered at police station Akhnoor and further investigations are underway.
