JAMMU, Sept 17: A woman was killed and her spouse injured in a road accident on main Tawi bridge, here this evening.
According to the reports, a couple identified as Varinder Jamwal (60) and Preety Jamwal (50), residents of Digiana was riding on a scooty from Dogra Chowk towards Bikram Chowk when their two-wheeler was hit by an unknown heavy vehicle near Maharaja Hari Singh statue on main Tawi bridge.
In the mishap, Preety Jamwal received serious injuries while his husband was also hurt. They were immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where Preety was declared as brought dead by the doctors. The condition of the injured man was stated to be stable.
After postmortem, the dead body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites while Nowabad Police had registered a case in this connection under relevant sections of the law and further investigation started.
