POONCH, Dec 20: A woman was allegedly raped and later beaten up by the accused and his father, a former Naib Sarpanch at village Ghani in Balnoi area of Mendhar on Monday.
The local police at Mendhar took cognizance today only after SSP Poonch, JS Johar intervened. The police which remained inactive yesterday, today registered a case FIR No. 190/2016 under sections 376/ 341/354/ 294/ 323/ 511 RPC against the accused persons.
Reports said that young house-wife, Samira Bi (name changed) had gone to the nearby spring to fetch water during the day at Ghani village on Monday. She was all alone there. Suddenly, Zulfkar Ahmed, son of former Naib Sarpanch Ghani- Niaz Ahmed caught hold of her and allegedly committed rape. She returned to her house and narrated the matter to her husband, Alam Shah (assumed name). They went to the house of Naib Sarpanch with complaint against his son. Both son and the father, abused the lady and termed that she was telling lie. They beaten up the victim and her husband. Her arm got fractured. Then they moved of Police Station, Mendhar but police did not take cognizance.
Today, they moved to SSP Poonch and narrated whole story. With the intervention of SSP, the police at Mendhar registered a case FIR No. 190/ 2016 against the rape accused and his father. The victim was provided treatment at Poonch hospital for fracture. It was alleged that local NC leader was influencing police not to induct the former Niab Sarpanch.
SDPO, Mendhar Shahid Nahiem when contacted said that both rape accused and his father have been booked. Main accused’s father, Niaz Ahmed has been arrested. The police is looking for the rape accused and police parties were conducting raids to nab him. The SDPO claimed that he was not under any pressure from local NC leader and will go by the law of the land to deal with the case.
