Srinagar, July 11: In yet another shocking incident, a woman from New Theed, Harwan area of Srinagar has been allegedly set on fire by her in-laws and husband resulting in her death.
As per her family members, they got a call early on Saturday morning informing them about the incident and asking them to rush to SKIMS, Soura immediately. Upon reaching there, they find their daughter, Haseena in her late 30s with 2 kids, lying on the bed with most of her body burnt.
“She had 90% burns on her body and the doctors told us that it was unlikely that she would be able to make it and that’s what happened,” said Mehraj Din Rather, brother of the woman.
While the doctors tried their best to save the woman, but, the family said, her condition was so bad that she could not make it and was pronounced dead early on Sunday morning.
The family alleges that their daughter was being harassed on and off and that ultimately her in-laws along with her husband Mubashir Ahmad Dar killed her by setting her on fire.
Police have taken cognizance of the matter, and a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Harwan.
