JAMMU, Mar 23: A woman along with her four-year-old daughter allegedly jumped into river Chenab in Akhnoor.
Police spokesman said that, an unidentified woman reportedly jumped this morning into river Chenab along with her daughter from new bridge near Ambraan.
He said police and locals on receiving information immediately rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation.
“The women’s body was fished by the divers while her daughter had drowned,” he said.
They said a medical prescription of a Government Hospital, Marh was found from the possession of the deceased lady which carried the identity of her daughter namely Bhumika Manhas, age around four years.
The body has been shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for identification, while a case has been registered at Akhnoor police station and investigation started.
