JAMMU, July 29: Body of a woman was recovered from river Chenab in Jourian area here today, police sources said.
The deceased was identified as Navjeet Kour, wife of Joginder Singh, a resident of Chatha Mill, District Jammu.
Apparently it seems that the woman has committed suicide as her purse and some other belongings were found near Jia Pota Ghat in Akhnoor yesterday.
After conducting post-mortem at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Akhnoor, the body of the deceased was handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
Inquest proceeding under Section 174 CrPC has been initiated by Akhnoor Police to ascertain the exact cause of the death.
