AKHNOOR, Mar 29: The dead body of a middle aged woman was recovered from river Chenab here this evening.
A police spokesman said that unidentified woman’s body, was noticed floating in the river by boatman and he rushed in the water and brought the body to the left bank of the river with the help of his boat. The deceased is believed to be in the age group of 40-45 years.
The people gathered there and they informed police. Akhnoor police party reached there. Since the body was lying on the other bank, therefore, they contacted Kanha Chak police for investigation and registration of a case in this connection.
The police then shifted the body to the mortuary of Akhnoor Hospital. A message was flashed to all the police stations including Reasi, Mahore, Ramban, Doda, Bhaderwah etc but the identity of the deceased could not be ascertained.
