Woman’s murder solved

JAMMU, Jan 11: Police today arrested a person for murdering a lady in Tanda area, falling under the jurisdiction of Akhnoor police station.
Additional SP Jammu ML Kaith said body of a woman identified as Parveena Bibi, wife of Saleem Mohammad of Kandi, tehsil Akhnoor was found in the backyard of her in-laws house on January 5.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot, shifted the body to hospital for postmortem and registered case under relevant Sections and took up investigations.
During investigations, police through call records came to know that the last call made to victim was from Sadiq Mohammad alias Shetu, son of Bashir Ahmed of Khungon Morh, Kotli Tanda.
Police arrested Sadiq and during investigation he confessed to the crime. The accused said that Parveena Bibi was having extra-marital affairs with him as she had estranged relations with her husband.
The victim also developed relations with some other persons and when he came to know about that, he murdered her by strangulating her.
Police have also recovered a Nokia mobile phone and destroyed SIM card from the accused. SHO Akhnoor Inspector Pradeep Sharma worked out the murder case under the supervision of Mr Kaith.
