Women beaten by sticks over land dispute, two arrested

JAMMU, June 26: Two persons were arrested for beating women with sticks over land dispute in Khanpur area of Pouni Chak area here on city outskirts.
However, police swing into action and arrests were made by Pouni Chak Police headed by SI Dilawar Kumar after video went viral on social media.
In-charge Police Post Pouni Chak, SI Dilawar Kumar said that two persons have been arrested into the incident after raiding several hideouts.
“There were three persons involved in beating the women who were seen in the video”, said the cop, adding that the arrested persons were identified as Mangal Singh, son of Janak Singh of Khanpur and Ravi Singh, son of Bishan Singh of Ranbir Singh, Pura. Brother of Ravi Singh is absconding and the manhunt is launched to arrest him.
“Family dispute over land triggered the clash”, said the Sub Inspector. He said two persons including a woman were injured in the attack. The injured were identified as Krishna Devi, wife of Kamlesh Lal of Khanpur and Kuldeep, son of Shamsher Lal of Floura.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Domana and investigation taken up, said the policeman.
