UDHAMPUR Oct 6: District Administration Udhampur today organized one day Women Electoral Conference under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) at Conference Hall of DC office, here today.
The event was held to  make the eligible voters especially women voters abreast about the importance of participating in the election process.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, who is also District Election Officer was the chief guest on the occasion.
Over 200 women including school/college faculty members, Anganwari workers, Asha workers and college students participated in the conference.
Speaking on the occassion, the DEO said that the main aim of organizing such conference is to increase the level of awareness among voters especially women folk and facilitate their participation in the election process.
Citing the huge participation of women voters in Reasi district in recent elections due to the efforts of district administration, the DEO said that women have high stake in the elections as they form major chunk of voters in each constituency.
“Women have greater role in strengthening democratic institutions and  for that they should come forward and exercise their right to franchise” he said.
A seminar on “Greater Women Participation for Stronger Democracy” was also held on the occasion in which about 8 speakers elaborated upon the importance of women participation in building a strong democratic system.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Angrez Singh Rana, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Rajeev Magotra, PO ICDS, Sanjay Gupta, PO DRDA(Nodal Officer SVEEP), Dr. Jagdish Mehra, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Chander Parkash, District Social Welfare Officer, Rachna Sharma , DIO, NIC, Anil Sharma, DIO, Dr. Ashwani Hansa, school/college staff , Election NT and students attended the conference.
