Jammu, Feb 23: Member Parliament Jammu Poonch Constituency M L Sharma has said that empowerment and development of women always remained on the top priority of the Congress party.
He said Congress led UPA had launched many schemes for the welfare and empowerment of women implemented through Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in J&K a huge funding was provided to the Social Welfare Department for the purpose. He said that empowerment of Panchayats and women reservation will also provide a plate form for the women to put forth their issues.
He informed that under NRHM many incentives are provided to pregnant ladies. He called upon the women to support his candidature in the forthcoming Parlimentary elections so that he can forcibly plead for the women of J&K.
He called upon the people to strengthen the bond of amity and brotherhood for the overall development of the State. Mr. Sharma said that peace, amity and brotherhood are pre-requisite for the progress and prosperity of the state or society. He asked people to be aware of the communal forces which will try to divide people for their vested interests. He also felt the need to encourage the peace loving communities and discouragement to the trouble monglers and peace disturbing elements. He was addressing public meeting at Bishnah.
Later, Mr Sharma visited Shemrock Public School to attend a Annual Day function of the school and Rajeev Colony Bikram Chowk where he said Congress led UPA Govt. is providing dignified livelihood and food security to all sections of the society. Elaborating Mr. Sharma said that Congress has passed and made the street vendors (Protection of livelihood and regulation of street ending) Bill 2012 a reality. He said that non street vendors can earn their livelihood with dignity and honor as the vendors’ bill has an overriding effect on all laws and acts of police and municipal corporations who use to harass them citing several of their acts. Mr. Sharma called upon the Jammu people to unite for making Jammu more powerful. He said that Congress party will be part of the successive Governments in the State and said that the more powerful the Congress will be stronger will become the voice of Jammu.
