Women Help Desks Incharges given scooties in Sopore

Srinagar, June 5: To help women who are facing any kind of harassment/violence, Sopore Police recently established Women Help Desk at four police stations, Sopore, Tarzoo, Bomai and Dangiwacha.
Police said that to further strengthen the functioning of Women Help Desks, SP Sopore Sudhanshu Verma allotted and handed four scooties to the In-charge Women Help Desk during a function at DPL Sopore. SDPO Sopore, DYSP DAR Sopore and other officers/officials of Sopore Police were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Sopore said that crime against women is the most aggressive violation of human rights and the victims often experience a sense of emotional numbness that could lead the victims to drastic and fatal decisions.
He also said that these Help Desks are aimed to respond to all distress calls and provide a prompt/reliable mechanism against domestic violence and other offences against women/girls round the clock.
Meanwhile, SDPO Sopore and DySP DAR Sopore also said that these Women Help Desks will help in protecting the rights of the women in the district and expressed hope that the Women Help Desk would cater to the needs of women who face violence.
