BHADERWAH, Mar 21: Hundreds of women held protest over the alleged rape and murder of a minor kidnapped girl, whose body was found from forest area near Halia Nallah in Runta village on March 18.
Large number of women and friends of the deceased minor girl assembled at Domail and held protest. Amid slogans, they blocked the vehicular movement on the Doda-Bhaderwah road.
Later, the protesters took out protest rally to SDM Office Bhaderwah and demanded CBI inquiry vis-à-vis immediate arrest of the accused, behind the killing of the minor girl, who was kidnapped on March 16 and later allegedly raped and killed.
They stated that the family members went to police station to lodge the missing complaint, but the police officers including Munshi refused to lodge the complaint and were trying to shield the culprits.
“Had the police intervened and started hunt to trace out the minor girl timely, the life of the minor could have been saved”, they added.
However, police sources revealed that a SIT comprising of ASP Bhaderwah, SHO Bhaderwah Inspector Jatinder Singh Sambyal, Sub Inspector Mohammad Latieef and Head Constable Riyaz Ahmed has been constituted by SSP Doda ZN Manhas to look into the allegations leveled by the family members of the deceased girl.
A case under FIR Number 22/16 under Section 363 RPC stands registered at Bhaderwah police station and investigation into the case is going on, they said, adding that the three persons including a girl have been detained by the police for questioning.
As reported, a class 12th student Anjali Devi (17), daughter of Chain Singh, a resident of Runta left her house after having some altercation with her elder sister on March 16. The girl was found hanging with a tree in the jungle area on March 18.
