JAMMU, Dec 22: National Conference (NC) Women Wing State President, Shamima Firdous has exhorted women to play their crucial role in participatory democracy, saying it is imperative for their socio-political empowerment.
“NC has all along strived for empowerment of women and the role played by Madr-e-Mehrban Begum Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah in this regard can never be forgotten,” Shamima Firdous said while addressing workers at village Kothey, Slehar Block in R.S Pura today.
She also said that time has come when women must take a lead in a big way and join the mega democratic process to elect their own Government.
She said NC alone can give a strong and stable government to the State at the strength of the peoples’ support.
Speaking on the occasion, State NC Women Wing Vice President, Bimla Luthra urged the women to play their important role for harmonious growth of the society. She expressed concern over communal posturing of vested interests and said this tendency is in conflict with the spirit of togetherness, accommodation and tranquillity.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Barthi Devi, Jyoti Devi, Rani Devi, Veena Devi, Santosh, Puja, Rani and Raj Kumari.
