Women playing vital role in society: Dr Amita

JAMMU, Mar 9: President of IAS Officers Wives Association (IASOWA) J&K Dr Amita Mehta today said that the women are playing vital role in society as doctors, engineers, painters, politicians or homemakers and called upon all women to collectively promote gender equality.
Dr Mehta— an environmentalist and wife of Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta was speaking during a function organized by IASOWA J&K in which two IAS lady officers Mandeep Kaur (2004 IAS) and Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar (2013 IAS) were honoured by her.
Dr Manu Bhatnagar, wife of RR Bhatnagar (Advisor to Lieutenant Governor), combined services officers’ wives and members of IASOWA J&K were also present on the occasion. President IASOWA also honoured Dr Manu and said doctors were the real warriors during corona pandemic as they worked day and night to save others life.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Amita said that these two officers have inspired hundreds of other women to achieve their dreams. She said that these lady officers discharge their duties with professionalism and have balanced their professional and domestic life.
In her speech, she observed that women are doing well in every field. She saluted all women for their achievements and impressed upon the attendees and other women to collectively promote gender equality, raise awareness against bias and celebrate women achievements.
Dr Amita informed that the motto of the IASOWA is to empower women, children and to protect environment. She also recited her own written poem “Dharti ka Dil” for the protection of environment.
Dr Manu Bhatnagar and two lady IAS officers also spoke on the occasion.
