Women protest against opening of Club in JDA Colony

JAMMU, June 27: Female residents of the JDA Housing Colony Roop Nagar today extended their full support and cooperation to Uttam Deep Sharma president Roop Nagar JDA Housing Colony Welfare Association in its fight against the Government’s proposed move to convert Community Center into a Club on the behest of some vested elements in the Colony.
The protesting women shouting slogans against the JDA authorities alleged that despite repeated protests by the people of the area the authorities are hell bent to convert the community Centre into a Club.
The protesting women took out a candle light procession in the area in which a large number of ladies participated.
They said over one year back the residents led by then president of the colony Mulkh Raj Sharma had protested against the opening of Club in the area. Realizing the problem the then VC issued orders to convert the proposed building for Club into the Community Centre. She further opposed the establishment of Club in the colony.
The protestors sought immediate intervention of local MLA and DyCM in the matter.
The protestors urged the Government to revoke the order immediately. The protesting women asked that has founder of RSS, Dr Headgewar and Guru Golewalkar struggled their entire life for opening of bars in residential areas and does it fit in the basic principles of BJP which claims to be a Party with a difference.
