KATHUA, May 7: The irate women protested in front of DC Office here today demanding hike in old age and widow pension immediately in view of rising prices.
The protest was led by Santosh Mahajan a prominent social activist of the area. The protesters’ demanded that pension under APL categories be raised to Rs 1500 and under BPL categories to Rs 2000 per month. Besides, the children of these women be given the medical and free education facilities under social security scheme. They also demanded that educated widows who have lost their husbands in early age be provided jobs in Social Welfare, NHRM and Education departments.
