SAMBA, May 13: The irate women today protested at SIDCO Chowk Bari-Brahmana and near Vijaypur Railway Station against the opening of wine shops. The protesters raising slogans locked the wine shops and warned their opening near public places and residential areas.
According to reports irate women of Ward No 3 and 4 blocked the SIDCO Chowk at Bari-Brahmana protest against opening of wine shop at Bishnah road. Shouting slogans they did not allow the vehicular traffic to move on the road and disrupted the vehicular traffic for some time.
Later on the assurance by SHO Bari-Brahmana that wine shop will be closed they dispersed and traffic was restored.
The irate women near Railway Station Vijaypur also protested and locked the wine shop there. Protesting against the authorities they warned to launch a massive agitation in case the authorities tried to reopen the wine shop in the vicinity.
