‘Women working as commandos most visible form of empowerment’

GURGAON, June 11:
Women serving as commandos is the most manifest form of their empowerment and an example for the nation, CRPF Director General Pranay Sahay said today.
“They are the most manifest form of women’s empowerment and have been able to present an example before the country with their courage, dedication and loyalty,” Sahay said here at a performance of the country’s first all-woman commando team, which has been raised by the Central Reserve Police Force at the Group Centre in Gurgaon’s Kadarpur.
The team, which consists of 30 highly-trained women and two officers, has undergone a tough training of three months at the Jodhpur Police Academy in Rajasthan.
They have been trained to deal with hostage crises, rescue citizens endangered by terrorist attacks and provide security to visiting female dignitaries.
They can also join counter-terrorist operations and provide additional security at special events. (PTI)
