MENDHAR, Feb 2: Asserting that National Conference will not tolerate harassment to people in the garb of anti-encroachment drives, Zeeshan Rana, additional spokesperson of National Conference (JKNC) has accused the Govt of bringing black land laws to render the common innocent people shelterless.
He said that poor people who are holding even a few square yards of land have been thrown out of their shelters and their homes demolished. He said that the drives are continuing unabated despite the assurance by the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha that poor people holding quite meagre land would not be touched but no influential or powerful will be spared.
Addressing media persons here today, the National Conference leader said that post Aug 5, 2019 the BJP Govt at the Centre has let loose a reign of terror in Jammu and Kashmir with its anti-people policies having resulted in only miseries to the common people. He said that depriving the people of their lands and homes where they had been staying or holding for more than a hundred years is blatant violation of law by the Government.
Rana said that there is state land all across the nation that stands duly allotted to the people, but why the BJP has been singling out people of J&K only and dispossessing them of the State land and allotted land under Roshni Act. He accused the BJP Govt of reversing the implemented of ‘Land to Tiller’ law brought by Sheikh Mohd Abdullah for the poor and landless people. He said that there is definitely some malafide motive behind this anti-encroachment drive being going on unabated at the behest of Union Govt.
The NC leader said that this action of UT Administration is a dictatorial step aimed at making the life of petty farmers and poor people miserable especially in the rural areas. He said a strong warning to the Govt asked it to desist from harassing common and poor people failing which he said that National Conference will intensify its agitation on the issue and the administration shall be wholly and solely responsible for the consequences.
