NEW DELHI, Nov 8: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal, reviewed the sectoral progress in exports with Export Promotion Councils and Industry Bodies in New Delhi.
Romesh Khajuria, Chairman, Wool & Woolens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, who belongs to J&K attended the meeting and stated that there is 32% of growth in exports of wool & woollen products during the period April 2022 to September 2022 as compared to same period previous year.
This is Modi Government’s Model that Minister of Commerce & Industries and Textiles continuously addresses the issues of the export industry while bringing together captains and leaders of the industry and top officers in the Government for immediate solutions of the problems, stated Romesh Khajuria in his address.
During the meeting Minister exhorted the EPCs to strive to maintain the momentum of growth, support each other to create synergies and promote growth in a spirit of nationalism and urged the exporters to strive to retain global markets during challenging times. During the meeting Darshana Jardosh , Minister of State for Textiles, Sunil Bartwal, Secretary, Commerce, Rachna Shah, Textile Secretary and Senior officers from Department of Commerce were also present. Suresh Thakur, ED, WWEPC also accompanied the Chairman.
Romesh Khajuria raised various export related issues like abolishing GST on Ocean Freight, increase in rate of interest, subvention to exporters , continuation of simplified TUF Scheme etc. He appreciated the continuous support of Piyush Goyal in resolving the problems of the exporters.
