JAMMU, May 14: The work for establishment of OPGW network on 220 KV and 132 KV transmission lines of JKPDD for data and voice under PMRP has been started by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.
The inaugural function was held at JKPDD Grid Station, Gladni. The work was formally started by SK Sharma, Executive Director, Power Grid Northern Region-II in presence of senior officers of Power Grid, JKPDD and TCIL.
While speaking, SK Sharma reiterated the fact that Power Grid is working for a smarter and reliable grid operations in the country. He added that with the completion of this project, JKPDD will have its own Wi-Fi band based communication network which shall further help it to provide quality and reliable power supply to its end users.
As per the scope of the work under this package, Power Grid will create a OPGW network on 220 KV and 132 KV transmission lines of JKPDD in the J&K, which shall enable a reliable and efficient communication network for JKPDD. Total of approximately 1500 kilometers of OPGW shall be laid under this project across the State. This project is being executed by Power Grid on cost plus basis on behalf of JKPDD.
Power Grid has been working with JKPDD earlier also. Power Grid has carried out works of restoration of JKPDD transmission lines several times. Role of Power Grid during the restoration of power supply in Kashmir Valley after the devastating floods last year have been appreciated by one and all.
