UDHAMPUR, Nov 17: The Department of Cooperative, Udhampur, today celebrated 69th Cooperative Week at Shaheed Inspector Kamal Singh Model Higher Secondary School Boys, Udhampur.
Secretary Cooperative, Yasha Mudgul, was the chief guest while Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Krittika Jyotsna was the guest of honour on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, Secretary highlighted the achievements and activities of the department towards welfare and development of the society. She said that the Cooperative movement has always played an important in saving the poor, backward and uneducated masses. She exhorted upon the officials to celebrate the 69th cooperative week by engaging all sections of the society especially farmers to educate every one regarding the achievement and opportunities available in the department. She appreciated the work done by Cooperative Department Udhampur.
Secretary said the aim of celebration of this national event was to highlight the achievements of cooperative sector and chalk out future strategies for growth based on dynamics of Cooperative Department. She asked all the stakeholders affiliated with the cooperative sector to work tirelessly towards realizing Prime Minister’s vision of reviving Cooperatives as a vibrant entity.
She said that Cooperative Department plays a pivotal role in strengthening the national economy by bridging the rural-urban gap and creating opportunities for income generation. She stressed on marketing and promotion of local products. She reiterated that the main objective of this department is formulation of new cooperative societies and revival of old cooperative societies in the district.
Secretary along with the DC had a round of stalls set up by different departments including Cooperative societies for awareness of general public about various schemes.
Deputy Commissioner also spoke on the occasion and elucidated the significance of Cooperative movement in raising living standards of under privileged segments of the society.
Additional Registrar Cooperative Society, Jammu, Dr Nirupa Rai, highlighted the importance of observing this cooperative week. She said that Cooperative movement is meant to help the poor and downtrodden sections especially the rural population of the country.
On the occasion, students of the schools presented theme based scintillating cultural program.
Later, Secretary distributed mementoes among the participating students including outstanding Cooperative institutions besides handing over registration certificate to newly registered societies.
