Work in BSNL remains affected for the 2nd day in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Normal work in the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) remained crippled for the second day today due to two-day nationwide strike called by several unions demanding revival of the loss-making BSNL.
Strike has also affected telephone service as field staff could not attend the complaints because of strike. Customers of broadband also alleged that the speed of the internet system was very slow which frequently dropped also.
The customers also could not deposit their landline, mobile and broadband bills as the gate of main BSNL office at Exchange road remained closed.
Security guards have put barbed wire near the gate where a notice has been pasted on the main gate of the bill collection centre in Srinagar which said that “BSNL employees are on strike on April 21 and 22 to press for procurement of equipment and other accessories necessary for the survival and progress of BSNL. It said inconvenience caused to the public regretted. Forum of BSNL employees unions and Associations J&K Circle Srinagar, the notice said.
Hundreds of customers, who had come from different parts of the city to deposit their mobile, landline and broadband bills, had to return disappointed after they were not allowed to enter the office by the security guards. (UNI)
