Work on Maruti plant at Becharaji to commence soon

GANDHINAGAR, Apr 27:  Ossamu Suzuki, Chairman, Japan’s Suzuki
Motor Corporation, has said the construction work on Maruti-Suzuki’s manufacturing plant at Becharaji will commence soon.
In a meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi here last
night, he informed the chief minister that the company’s governing
body has approved the proposal to start the works at Bahucharaji plant.
R.C.Bhargav, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said the plant will be functional by 2015-16 as per the schedule. The state
government has allocated 700 acre land of the process of acquiring
more land is going on, he said.
They were here to visit the plant site and discuss the progress
of the plant, he said.
Welcoming Mr Suzuki, Mr Modi said that Becharaji is going to become automobile hub. Mr Suzuki praised the Gujarat government’s co-operation in setting up of its plant.
The meeting was attended by Maruti Suzuki Managing Director K. Auyakawa, Director S. Nakanishi and the company’s other office bearers, along with Gujarat government’s Principal Secretary to Industries M Sahu other senior officials of the state government. (UNI)
