JAMMU, Mar 16: The work in High Court as well as District Court complex remained affected today due to non-appearance of Advocates on the call given by J&K High Court Bar Association in protest against killing of Advocate by police personal at Allahabad High Court and attack on Advocate Shazia Kouser in Gursai area of Mendher.
The Association took strong exception to the failure of the State Government in providing proper security as one of its members namely Shazia Kouser was attacked by miscreants in Gursai area of Mendhar last evening.
According to official hand-out issued by Advocate Pranav Kohli, Vice President of J&K High Court Bar Association, an emergent meeting was held under the leadership of its President Advocate Abhinav Sharma wherein the participants expressed serious concern over the failure of the State Government to provide basic amenities to the Advocates working in various Courts in Jammu.
The Association held Government accountable for delay in disposal of cases for which the lack of basic facilities to the Advocates was the major reason. The construction of chambers which was undertaken a decade back has not been completed till date. The condition of District Courts Complex and High Court Complex is also deteriorating.
The Association even received a delegation of lawyers from different districts particularly from Kishtwar, where also the lawyers are facing extreme difficulties because of the absolute failure of the State Government to provide regular facilities. The Association expects the intervention of Law Minister in taking note of the lack of basic facilities to the lawyers across the State.
