RAMBAN, June 3: The workers engaged in the security and maintenance of the 9 kilometer long Chenani-Nashri Tunnel today blocked the traffic in the tunnel in protest against their long pending demands.
The protesting workers were demanding release of their three month pending salary, implementation of Labour Laws and basic facilities.
They sat on the dharna on the road inside the tunnel, blocked the Jammu Srinagar National Highway traffic and raised slogans against their employer companies and the administration for failing to provide them basic facilities, basic rights and regular payment of salaries.
Later, the Batote police and Executive Magistrate 1st Class pacified them to lift their dharna from inside the tunnel and the vehicular traffic was resumed.
