The protesters including all daily wagers and need based workers of Baghlihar Hydro Electric Project raised slogans in support of their demands. They demanded their regularization on the analogy of the recent Government order to regularize 12000 temporary employees of Power Development Corporation (PDD).
“We deserve a more sympathetic consideration for our regularization just as the temporary employees of PDD because it is only by dint of their past two decades of toil the Government is accruing a lucrative income from this project,” they said. They alleged that they are not paid their salaries regularly and is sometimes delayed by 4 to 6 months.
Meanwhile, the MD of J&K Power Development Corporation, Raja Yaqub Farooq said that their organization is a corporation and a joint venture so it’s policy is different from PDD. However, he assured the protesting workers that their demand would be examined in the light of the Government guidelines.
