Workers of CAPD stores observe strike

JAMMU, Sept 24: Food and Allied workers of main food stores of CAPD, Jammu, observed one day strike in the premises of office of the Assistant Director (T/S) Nehru Market and suspended their routine work, to press for their demand of timely release of wages.
The president of the Union said that despite orders passed by Director CAPD for release of wages by or before 10th of each month, the same has not been followed.
He alleged that the payment of wages to the workers of Muffassil depots of Jammu province is delayed and has always been irregular. In case of some of the stores, it is delayed by six months. Similarly the wages of workers of Jammu store are delayed by months together and never disbursed before 25th of the month.
It was also announced that the work would be suspended with effect from October 11, 2012, in all CAPD food stores throughout Jammu province in case the payment is not released to the workers both at Jammu and Muffassil depots by or before 10th of each month henceforth.
