Srinagar, Aug 9: The workers of a private security firm today staged a protest alleging that they were terminated from their services through unfair means.
Scores of these workers appeared in the Press Enclave and raised slogans against the company while demanding immediate reinstatement.
A private guarding firm, Peregrine, where these workers who are 10 in number were working for the last several years, terminated them by making them sign a form without reading out the contents.
“We were just made to sign a form and later were asked not to report from the next day,” the protestors said.
Posha who has been working as a guard for the last 10 years said that the company used to just transfer them once in a while, “but this time, they simply resorted to injustice,” she said.
“We were made to sign a form and being illiterate, we thought it is a form for the CP fund, but at the end, we were told not to report back; I have been left with nothing,” she said, adding that the company told them that they would be adjusted “but nothing happened after that.”
They said that the company did not inform them beforehand about the decision and were not even given any prior notice “Is this the way even though they know that we have no other source of income,” the protestors said.
The protestors said that the company directed them not to highlight the issue and not make hue and cry about it. “But we had to raise our voice against the injustice as we were left with no option,” they said.
They said that they are facing immense financial issues and that the company must be made to reinstate them. “We appeal the higher-ups to look into the matter deliver justice to us,” they said.
