JAMMU, Nov 7: A deputation of workers of Singer India Limited under the chairmanship of Prem Chand, general secretary, Federation of Unions of Industrial Workers met Principal Secretary Finance Department Iqbal Khandey.
While speaking, Prem Chand demanded re-opening of the Singer Factory, which was closed since 2005. He said that re-opening of the factory is the only way to waving off of minimum electric demand charged with penal interest for the closed period. The file is before the Finance Department for approval, Chand informed.
Iqbal Khandey said that Government is interested in re-opening of the factory without contradiction and on the scientific approach, which is the need of the time.
“Workers should prepare proposals for re-opening of the closed factory to develop real industrial cult in the State for generation of capital, employment and self-reliant economy”, Khandey added.
