“There is extra demand, and to address the issue of unscheduled power cuts, authorities are working at a higher level. We are committed to ensuring that the issue is resolved,” he said, emphasizing: “Minimizing such power cuts will be ensured.”
It is worth noting that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had issued clear directives to the authorities to avoid unscheduled power cuts and to ensure strict adherence to the curtailment schedule.
The Divisional Commissioner also pointed out that the increased use of crude heating gadgets by the public not only raises the risk of fire but also increases the load on the power supply system, contributing to power cuts.
Regarding infrastructure, Bidhuri mentioned that there are 133 functional 33kV stations across Kashmir.
On the issue of damaged Distribution Transformers (DTs), he said that around 50 DTs are damaged daily. “As of now, all except six have been replaced,” he added.
On fuel availability, Bidhuri assured that stocks of diesel, petrol, and LPG are being monitored daily. “Currently, we have a stock sufficient for 18 days,” he said.
He also noted that, apart from the Razdan Pass and Zojila, all roads in the valley remain operational despite the onset of winter.
The Divisional Administration, he added, is ensuring uninterrupted supplies of essential commodities and strengthening snow clearance operations across Kashmir.
