Workshop on ‘Computer Application in Sociology’ begins at Reasi Campus

REASI, Apr 16: Two day workshop on ‘Computer Application in Sociology’ is being organized at Reasi Campus, University of Jammu.
The objective of the workshop is to provide hands-on training and practical sessions to the students to enable them to use computer applications and softwares in the academic pursuits.
Prof  Rajni Kant, Director, Colleges Development Council,  was the chief guest and Prof  Lalit Sen Sharma, Head, Department of Computer Sciences and IT, JU,   was the guest of honour for the inaugural session.
Addressing the audience Prof  Rajni Kant emphasized the significance of IT in the growth of society. While sharing his experiences with the students, he  appreciated the efforts of the Reasi Campus, University of Jammu for providing the opportunities and exposures to the students and staff in the field of computer applications.
Prof  Pawanesh Abrol, Director, Reasi Campus,   emphasized the need of such initiatives to enhance the capacity building of the University students thereby helping them compete effectively for different avenues with advanced tools and technologies in the field of IT. While elaborating about the programme, he disclosed that workshop will have the practical sessions that are spread over two days wherein the students will work on the different tools.
Prof  Lalit Sen Sharma gave an invited talk on the title “Digital Technology Initiatives”. During his interaction,  he highlighted the significance of the Digital India initiative taken up by Government of India and its  impact on people. Deliberating on the need of computing technologies, Prof  Sharma talked about different tools and technologies, user interfaces and web applications for the students in the field of sociology.
Dr  Nisha Sharma  conducted  proceedings of the inaugural session while  Priya Sharma  presented the formal vote of thanks.
Prominent among those,  who were present on the occasion,  included Dr  Ranjeet Kumar Sharma,  Manoj Kumar,  Sanjay Manhas,  Gurpal Singh and  Sheetal Sharma.
