JAMMU, Oct 4: An Orientation programme for parents of cochlear implant children was organised by JK Electronic ears in collaboration of Medal India PvT Ltd here today.
The programme was lead by Dr Navneet Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of ENT, Consultant Audiologist and Speech Pathologist and by Puneet Gupta, Managing Director and Hearing Aid Specialist, JK Electronic Ears and Prime Speech and Hearing Clinic.
The aim of this program was to give understanding of rehabilitation to parents of cochlear implants children for their healthy language and speech growth and to make them an integral part of hearing society.
A cochlear implant is an electronic device that improves hearing. It can be an option for people who have severe hearing loss from inner-ear damage who are not able to hear well with hearing aids.
Unlike hearing aids, which amplify sound, a cochlear implant bypasses damaged portions of the ear to deliver sound signals to the hearing (auditory) nerve.
