JAMMU, Sept 6: A 2 -day Familiarization Workshop on Nanofabrication Technologies by the Department of Physics and Electronics in Jammu University began today.
The workshop is being organized in association with Indian Nanoelectronics Users’ programme (INUP), Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay, Mumbai.
The inaugural function was held in the department of Physics and Electronics and Prof Soumyo Mukherji from IIT Bombay, delivered a keynote talk on Biofunctionalization of Microstructures.
Earlier, Dr Rakesh Vaid, Convener of the workshop, introduced the theme of this workshop while Prof Anju Bhasin, Head Department of Physics and Electronics briefed the participants about the various research activities undertaken in the department of Physics and Electronics, University of Jammu.
Prof Anil Kottantharayil, Principal Investigator, INUP, IIT Bombay threw light on various research activities undertaken under INUP programme at IIT Bombay, Mumbai. Three more technical sessions were conducted today.
In the first technical session Prof Dipankar Saha from IIT Bombay spoke about Gallium Nitride based HEMT while in the second technical session Prof Anil Kottantharayil, and Prof Ashwin Tulapurkar, PI and Co-PI INUP respectively presented about the various INUP activities and Nanofabrication research infrastructure for INUP users.
In the last technical session, Prof. B M Arora from IIT Bombay presented his work on Polycrystalline silicon by HWCVD.
Despite of very heavy rains and inclement whether, more than 100 participants from various parts of the country participated in this event. Prof Pankaj Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, JU, Prof Dipankar Sen Gupta, HoD Economics, Prof P V K S Baba, Dr Susheel Sharma, Co-Convener of the workshop, Dr Jatinder Khajuria, Joint Registrar (finance), Dr Vijay Saigal, Prof Vivek Gupta, research scholars, M Sc students of the department of Physics and Electronics were presented among others.
