Workshop on NUHM, RBSK for CMOs, BMOs organised

JAMMU, Sept 12: Directorate of Health Services Jammu facilitated by National Health Mission Jammu and Kashmir organized one day Divisional level workshop on RBSK(Rastriya Bal Swasth Karyakram) and NUHM(National Urban Health Mission) for Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents, Block Medical Officers and Coordinators of Jammu Division at Government Medical College here today.
Director Health Services Jammu, Dr B.S Pathania inaugurated the workshop and introduced the participants about the programmes. Dr Yash Pal Sharma, Mission Director National Health Mission  J&K being busy in Kashmir due to the present flood situation was represented by Dr Harjeet Rai Divisional Nodal officer Jammu Division and Dr Arun Sharma, Programme Manager NUHM J&K, who were also the resource persons for the workshop.
The workshop included detailed power point presentation and discussion by participants and multiple queries regarding RBSK, NUHM and other programmes being run in the health Department.
The main queries were discussed in presence of Director Health Services Jammu. Dr B.S Pathania in the last also discussed with all about current flood situation. He stressed upon all particularly about staying on stations and cancelling all leaves to take care of public and particularly patients coming to institutions. He also stressed upon to organize camps, outreach tour by health teams , health education to prevent any kind of epidemic particularly education regarding water borne diseases, laison with panches and Sarpanches to know situation of general public in villages, distribution of medicines, ORS, cholrine tablets to purify water.

Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) is a new initiative aiming at early identification and early intervention for children from birth to 18 years to cover 4 ‘D’s viz defects at birth, deficiencies, diseases, development delays including disability.
Universal screening would lead to early detection of medical conditions, timely intervention, ultimately leading to a reduction in mortality, morbidity and lifelong disability.
In order to effectively address the health concerns of the urban poor population, the National Health Mission (NHM) with two sub-missions NRHM & National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), in every Municipal Corporation, Municipality, Notified Area Committee and Town Panchayat will become a unit of planning with its own approved broad norms for setting up of health facilities. The separate plans for Notified Area Committees, Town Panchayats and Municipalities will be part of the District Health Action Plan drawn up for sub-mission NUHM.
