JAMMU, Sept 23: The Department of Anaesthesia and Critical Care, ASCOMS in collaboration with other departments, organized a workshop on “Basic Life Support” for the benefit of doctors and medical students.
During the one day event which was attended by 50 participants from undergraduate level medical students and doctors from Directorate Medical in the college auditorium, approach to a patient in cardiac arrest and various techniques of resuscitation of a victim were demonstrated.
The idea of the event was to teach both the medical professionals and any other by stander to help a collapsing patient, whether in or outside the hospital. The aim was to help them take the right decisions preceded by the right actions in situations of critical help when there is no immediate assistance around.
The deptt was able to anchor this initiative with combined efforts and mindsets of the entire team headed by Prof and HoD Dr Nandita Mehta and Prof Dr Lovi Padha who have always been a medium for the medical students to catalyze such knowledgeable sessions.
