JAMMU, Jan 18: Employment Information cum Advisory Bureau, Department of Lifelong Learning University of Jammu started a series of workshops on ‘Digital Literacy’, here today.
The first workshop was inaugurated at RS Pura in collaboration with Govt. Degree College, RS Pura. The three days workshop will include spreading computer based knowledge to students from diverse streams which will help them to become proficient in handling digital communication.
Prof Rajni Bhagat, College Principal in her welcome address expressed the dire need for skill development programmes for the students as it helps to build a strong foundation for students at the college level. “It not only helps students to become independent thinkers but also encourages them to plan for their future,” she said.
Dr Jeevan Jyoti, Director DLL inaugurated the workshop and in her address she stressed on the need and importance of digital literacy. She informed students that digital literacy skills will make them more proficient and confident. “Digital literacy is a necessity in today’s educational systems,” she added.
She delved upon how the workshop on digital literacy will help the students to achieve the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Digital India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
Dr Rewa Khajuria coordinated the workshop and highlighted the workshop objectives. The special resource person was Surjeet Kumar from Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu.
A total of 35 students have registered for the workshop.
Dr Balwinder Kour, coordinator career counselling cell of the College conducted the proceedings of the programme, while the formal vote of thanks was given by Prof Rakesh Choudhary.
