Workshop on Ethical Hacking begins at JU Kathua Campus

KATHUA, Jan 9: Two-day hands-on workshop on the theme ‘Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking’ commenced today at Department of Computer Science and IT, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, in collaboration with Secuneus Technologies Pvt Ltd , Jalandhar.
The workshop has been organized for the students of MCA to give them exposure and industrial knowledge pertaining to the domain of Ethical Hacking. The first day of the workshop held five interactive sessions that demonstrated different hacking technologies.
Professor Meena Sharma, Rector, Kathua Campus and Chief Coordinator Campuses, in her message while emphasizing upon the importance of such workshops, stated that such events are the need of the hour in this professional world. She assured that more endeavours of organizing such programmes for the students shall continue in future so that Industry-Academia collaboration is consolidated more for the benefit of the students.
Palvinder Singh, CEO and Founder of Secuneus Technologies and Abhijeet Singh, Senior Security Analyst from Secuneus Technologies were the resource persons. They introduced the students to the world of hacking; starting with the importance of ethical hackers in today’s world scenario in addition to the basics of networking. Additionally, they covered Information Gathering and Reconnaissance, Desktop and Server Security, Email Security, Phishing Attacks and Social-Engineering Attacks in detail. The experts have also setup simulation lab for the students to learn and acquire the skills of resolving the various malicious attacks.
Earlier, Sourabh Shastri, Incharge Head of the Department and Organizing Secretary of the workshop, presented the welcome address and introduced the resource persons during the programme. He highlighted that more efforts shall be put in future so as students get benefited from the competencies of such professionals. The sessions were coordinated by Sunny Sharma, faculty member of MCA Department. Dr Jyoti Sharma, Dr Vivek Sharma, Pankaj Khajuria, Paramjit Kour and Riti Prakash Singh Katal were also present.
